Harmony Home Support and Family Services was founded in Fredericton in 2013 by a group of front-line workers. Today our team brings more than 50 years of combined experience in human services and family support to young people, families, and adults in Fredericton and the surrounding area. We work alongside social workers and the other professionals involved, in line with each person’s care plan.

The role

The Family Support Worker works alongside parents and caregivers in their homes, in line with the care plan developed by the family’s social worker. You’ll help families build routines, strengthen parenting skills, and work through difficult moments together. The work includes:

• Providing in-home support to parents and caregivers, focused on the goals in the family’s care plan.
• Modelling and teaching practical parenting skills, routines, and positive discipline.
• Supporting supervised or supported family time when requested.
• Helping families connect with community resources, schools, and services.
• Observing and documenting family interactions accurately and objectively.
• Reporting safety concerns immediately through the agreed channels and communicating with the assigned social worker.

What we’re looking for

• A degree or diploma in Social Work, Human Services, Child and Youth Care, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.
• Experience working with families facing stress, trauma, addiction, mental health challenges, or poverty.
• Knowledge of child development and family systems.
• Familiarity with New Brunswick’s Child and Youth Well-Being Act is an asset.
• A non-judgmental, strengths-based approach and strong professional boundaries.
• Clear, objective written documentation.
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR, or willingness to obtain it before starting.
• A valid New Brunswick driver’s licence and reliable vehicle.
• A clear Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Check.
• A Social Development Prior Contact Check.
