Harmony Home Support and Family Services was founded in Fredericton in 2013 by a group of front-line workers. Today our team brings more than 50 years of combined experience in human services and family support to young people, families, and adults in Fredericton and the surrounding area. We work alongside social workers and the other professionals involved, in line with each person’s care plan.

The role

The Home Support Worker helps clients stay safe, comfortable, and independent in their own homes. You’ll follow each client’s care plan and build steady, respectful relationships with the people you support and their families. The work includes:

• Assisting with personal care, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
• Supporting safe mobility and transfers, following the care plan.
• Preparing nutritious meals and assisting with eating when needed.
• Completing light housekeeping, laundry, and errands.
• Providing companionship and encouraging independence and familiar routines.
• Providing overnight support for some clients.
• Recording the care provided and promptly reporting any change in a client’s condition.

What we’re looking for

• A Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate or Home Support Worker training is an asset; experience in personal care will be considered.
• Compassion, reliability, and respect for each client’s privacy and dignity.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including assisting with transfers.
• Clear communication with clients, families, and the Harmony team.
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR, or willingness to obtain it before starting.
• A valid New Brunswick driver’s licence and reliable vehicle.
• A clear Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Check.
