Harmony Home Support and Family Services was founded in Fredericton in 2013 by a group of front-line workers. Today our team brings more than 50 years of combined experience in human services and family support to young people, families, and adults in Fredericton and the surrounding area. We work alongside social workers and the other professionals involved, in line with each person’s care plan.

The role

Reporting to Harmony management, the Youth Worker provides consistent one-to-one support to young people referred through Social Development and their assigned social workers. Most of the work happens in the community: at home, at school, and out and about in Fredericton and the surrounding area. The work includes:

• Providing one-to-one support in line with each young person’s care plan and the goals set by their social worker.
• Helping youth build everyday life skills: routines, cooking, budgeting, getting to school or work, and using community services.
• Supporting young people through difficult moments with patience, de-escalation, and clear, caring boundaries.
• Accompanying youth to appointments, activities, and community programs.
• Keeping accurate, timely shift notes and reporting concerns through the agreed channels.
• Communicating with Harmony management and the assigned social worker as required.

What we’re looking for

• A diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field, or equivalent experience working with youth.
• Experience supporting youth affected by trauma, family breakdown, or mental health challenges is an asset.
• Sound judgment, patience, and the ability to stay calm and consistent under pressure.
• Clear written communication for daily notes and reports.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) or similar training is an asset.
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR, or willingness to obtain it before starting.
• A valid New Brunswick driver’s licence and reliable vehicle.
• A clear Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Check.
• A Social Development Prior Contact Check.
